Phase Setting: State

What is it?

  • The State Phase setting allows course authors to configure whether Phases should be locked (i.e. inaccessible to a student) or unlocked by default.

Why is it important?

  • The State setting for a Phase is important because it allows course authors to control the flow and accessibility of Phases within a Case.

Settings

  • Initially Locked? (Checked): If checked, the current Phase will be locked until the prior Phase has been successfully submitted by the student.
  • Initially Locked? (Unchecked): If unchecked, the current Phase will be openly available for students to interact with at any time.

Did you know?

  • A key use for Phase States is to track completion percentage within courses. This data can be leveraged for credentialing, micro-credentialing, badging and many other use cases!
